Sounding · a commerce studio

Built like we're the owner.

Fathom designs and builds commerce: storefronts, the brands on them, and the tools that keep them running. Two of our clients had no web presence when we started. One had no company at all.

What the studio does

What we actually do.

01

Commerce builds

Storefronts end to end: brief, content model, theme, deploy, and the check that it works on the rendered page. Often Shopify, though we pick the platform per project. Building inside one is rarely the easy option, since the constraints are fixed and you design around them.

  • Storefront architecture
  • Content modelling
  • Theme development
  • Deploy and verify
02

Brand and product identity

For Black Marlin there was no company before the store. The name came from a boat. We set the palette, drew the logo, designed the bottle and the labels across all three lines, and made every image on the site.

  • Identity systems
  • Packaging and labels
  • Product renders
  • Art direction
03

Automation and AI workflows

The work somebody in the business currently does by hand, done by a system instead: candidate documents reformatted to a submission standard, target-company data mined and enriched, the right contact identified and routed to whoever should call them. The interesting part is rarely the model — it is knowing which thirty minutes are worth removing and which ones are load-bearing.

  • Workflow automation
  • AI integration
  • Data pipelines
  • Internal tools
04

Systems, security and direction

Four systems that should be one. A security questionnaire from a client's procurement team, due Friday. A platform decision that will be expensive to reverse. Unglamorous work, and everything else rests on it.

  • Systems integration
  • Security posture
  • Platform choice
  • Technical due diligence
Client storefronts

Three live. One built from nothing.

Brand, packaging and store

Black Marlin

Built from nothing: the name came from a boat. Identity, packaging and store, across three lines.

US launch

Wicked

First US presence for an Australian food brand twenty years old at home. No existing site to build on.

Storefront

Psychedelic Foods

Freeze-dried herbs, chiles and mushrooms. They had an identity, so the work was the store and the content model under it.

The instruments

Six tools we built to keep that standard.

We built them to do the work faster. Four are yours free — open one and judge the standard for yourself.
